DMC creates hip-hop version of “Second Life”

DMC x DMC World. DMC of Run DMC fame has been busy getting his entrepreneurship on. Last week DMC announced he is producing a “PG” rated, family friendly rap competition reality show called “The Kings of Rap.” And now he introduces his first online project called DMC world which is basically like a 3-D version of Second Life but with a hip-hop edge to it.

So yes, you can hit the VIP room, spit game in a battle and even find your way to a private room where I’m sure a virtual Superhead is probably waiting. Peep the video for a preview…of the DMC world, not of virtual Superhead. Via: TheRapUp

DMC new host of “PG rated” rap reality TV show

DMC x The Kings of Rap. Darryl “DMC” McDaniels of Run DMC fame will host and produce the reality rap show “The Kings of Rap” which is currently in production. The twist to this reality contest show is that contestants must create music and write lyrics safe enough for a kid to listen to. No songs are allowed to glorify violence, degrade women or use profanity. DMC states:

“There are so many talented kids out there who don’t get heard or don’t get signed because they’re not controversial enough, or they’re too positive. That amazes me. The spirit of hip hop was always about changing the world or yourself, not with a gun or with denigrating or offensive words, but by being effective with your mind. This is a time when everyone is talking about change, and we as a country have the opportunity to make a difference.”

According to Billboard, the show will begin filming in New York and then the producers will shop it around to the various TV networks. It’s good to see DMC trying something new and positive. But it’s also true that controversy is what sells. I mean did you SEE that “Bachelor” finale? Yea me neither.

Run DMC biopic coming to the big screen

It was only a matter of time. First Biggie, then Aaliyah and now Run DMC is the next in line to get a major motion picture biopic. It was just announced that Notorious writer Cheo Hodari Coker has been tapped to write the screenplay to Bill Adler’s book “Tougher Than Leather: The Rise of Run-DMC — The Authorized Biography.” Adler was Run DMC’s former publicist.

Similar to Notorious, which was actually also written from the adaptation of a book the Coker wrote about Biggie, Tougher Than Leather (not the official movie title) will explore the rags to riches story of Joseph “Run” Simmons, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and Jason “Jam Master Jay” Mizel and how they ushered hip-hop into mainstream popular culture.

Movie will be produced by Dallas Jackson who is currently working on the remake of The Last Dragon with The RZA and Samuel L. Jackson. You know WoooHa will be following this one very closely and we will have updates on casting, release date, etc. You know we got the hip-hop movie angle covered!

What actors would you like to see cast as Run DMC?

Video: Trailer to Angela & Vanessa Simmons new MTV show

You knew it was bound to happen. Rev Run’s two girls Angela and Vanessa, have been doing their thing on MTV’s “Run’s House” for the past couple of years and now they are on their own with a new show. MTV will be premiering “Daddy’s Girls” on Jan. 5th at 10:30pm ET/PT which follows Angela and Vanessa as they move to Los Angeles to expand their Pastry shoe line.

If you are an avid MTV viewer (I’m not, I’m just pointing it out) then you will notice the apartment complex that they are living in looks eerily familiar. That’s because it is the same one that was used on “The Hills.” Just sayin. Props to HipHopCrunch for the heads up.

Video: Jeezy, Missy E. & Method Man star in Adidas’ first TV ads

In honor of its 60th anniversary, long-time hip-hop supporters Adidas will be launching their first ever U.S. TV advertising campaign and have employed Young Jeezy, Method Man, DMC, Missy Elliott and even Russell Simmons to star in them. The ads will begin airing this week and also feature celebs such as Kevin Garnett and David Beckham mixed with the hip-hop stars. It’s nice to see Adidas stay close to their hip-hop ties after so many years since they teamed with Run D.M.C. back in the early 80′s.

The campaign will run a series of 30 and 60 second spots all focused around meeting together for a big pool party. My favorite is this K.G. vs. Jeezy spot. Check all the ads out here and remember to keep coming back to WoooHa, Inc. for all the latest hip-hop marketing and business info you can handle.
