T.I. praises Chris Brown’s acting in “Takers”

Since Chris Brown’s music career is pretty much shot maybe he should try being an actor full-time. T.I. had nothing but praise for CB’s acting chops in the upcoming action flick Takers.
“Chris was cool, man. I think Chris gonna impress a lot of people,” Tip told Power 106. “He does a lot of high performance, action sequences. He shows his ability. I think people will actually be presently surprised with his performance.”
Luckily none of these action sequences required Chris to beat other people up. Instead he does a lot of running and jumping off roof tops and cars. Check the trailer to see what we mean.

Details on T.I.’s new job as Creative Consultant for Remy Martin Cognac

Although the Cognac liquor community is split on their feelings of T.I.’s partnership with Remy Martin, traditionalists might be surprised at the amount of power the Cognac company has handed over to him with the official role of Global Creative Consultant. That’s right…not only will T.I. be an official endorser of the Cognac but he will have input in the majority of Remy Martin’s lifestyle marketing campaigns including promotions, merchandising and digital media.
“I’ve been a fan of Rémy Martin for many years so I’m honored to be working with them as creative consultant. And now after my trip to Cognac, I admire the brand’s genius even more. I’m excited about all the possibilities of this partnership,” stated T.I. in the official press release.
“T.I. is a powerful voice in the entertainment world as a recording artist, actor and producer. And Rémy Martin recognizes the similarities between the art of producing fine cognacs and blending music and words to create hit songs,” said Lamar Johnson, Director of Marketing and Branded Entertainment, Rémy Cointreau USA, Inc. “We are very pleased to partner with T.I. to build upon our successful ‘Things are Getting Interesting’ marketing campaign.”
According to the press release, as part of the partnership deal Rémy Martin will help T.I expand his K.I.N.G. Foundation by providing funds to the non-profit, which helps low income families through a variety of community-oriented programs. The next major project for T.I. and Rémy Martin will be to market and promote a new signature blend of the premium brand Rémy Martin V.S.O.P., which the rapper developed on a trip to the company’s headquarters.
Cognac industry reacts to T.I. as new Remy Martin spokesperson

The liquor business is a serious business…especially Cognac. Cognac drinkers are so passionate about their drink of choice that there even are multiple blogs dedicated to Cognac. One of the largest Cognac blogs, Cognac Expert, had a field day with the announcement that T.I. would be Remy Martin’s new spokesperson. Check out the reaction so far from dedicated Cognac drinkers:

It’s safe to say that many of these commenters are not hip-hop fans nor understand the power hip-hop has to influence the urban marketplace. Considering Remy Martin sold 1.9 million cases of Cognac last year vs. Hennessy’s 4.2 million and it’s easy to see why Remy Martin needs to up their urban marketing game to gain market share. Will it all work out? Only time will tell. Until then…let the fine folks at Cognac Experts complain all they want.
