Def Jam Rapstar is getting closer and closer to finishing up in time for their October 5th release date. Def Jam has just announced that a whole new roster of artists and producers will be featured in the game. Kotaku reports that Rapstar will include more than 40 songs and a number of producers with the producers providing instrumental beats for the game’s freestyle mode.

New additions include:

-A Tribe Called Quest’s Scenario
-Big Pun featuring Joe with Still Not A Player
-Jim Jones’ We Fly High
-LL Cool J’s Mama Said Knock You Out
-Ludacris’ Stand Up
-Onyx’s Slam
-RUN DMC’s Run’s House.

New producers confirmed are Cool & Dre’s Epidemic and DJ Khalil’s The Good Doctor. All in all, from a music choice these are great songs to rap/Karaoke to but the question is are these music rhythm based games over and done with already?

The video game formerly known as EA’s “NBA Live” takes on a new name and a new image as “NBA Elite.” The cover boy for this revamped franchise is none other than OKC Thunder sensation Kevin Durant. Considering the competition over at NBA 2K landed Michael Jordan on their cover, EA was in a difficult position to begin with but Durant is the truth and will be the face of the NBA once Kobe and LeBron are gone. No word yet on the “NBA Elite” soundtrack but we’ll have the info soon.

The big news with the NBA 2K franchise is the fact that Michael Jordan is officially gracing the cover and his character will actually be available in-game. For those NBA gamers, you know what a big deal this is as EA and 2K have both been trying for years to get Jordan’s likeness rights and approvals. Check the new “Go hard or go home” teaser (footage from 2k10) for NBA2k11 which hits stores Oct 5th. Via: Koalition

The official trailer to Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption…basically a Western version of Grand Theft Auto. Game hits stores May 18th.

Interesting choice by Electronic Arts to use this as their first public trailer but the emphasis is clear they want to position Madden 11 as a completely new game. This is something they need to do considering fans of the franchise are starting to grow weary which would be a financial disaster for EA. Newer trailers with more excitement will be on their way shortly. For now you get this one.
